If you and/or your child enjoy adventure books, then the book The Adventures of Rockford T. Honeypot is it! This book had me hooked from the beginning – with imaginative details and a delightful storyline. The story begins with Rockford T. Honeypot narrating his life story to his great-grandson along with several (then thousands) shoppers at a local grocery store (soon broadcasted via web by one of the shoppers).
Josh Gottsegen writes Rockford T. Honeypot with the line, “Be Bold and Blossom.” He writes, “Throughout his journey, Rockford learns the true value of never giving up, following your dreams in the face of adversity, and finding your place in a world that doesn’t understand one’s passions.” I absolutely felt inspired as reading the book with Rockford T. Honeypot being a character that motivates whoever reads the story. The story is about a place with anthropomorphic characters (meaning animals that act human and even dress the part). Rockford T. Honeypot is our hygienic hero who faces many-a-obstacle throughout his life facing true peril and even true love. His story is a coming-of-age that even a person could relate to. With that being said, Rockford T. Honeypot’s story of not giving up, success/failure, and adventuring got my wheels turning and I decided to create a chipmunk bookmark. Follow along to create your own!
How To: Create a Chipmunk Bookmark
- Template of chipmunk’s face (Print)
- Felt of different colors
- Hot glue
- Scissors
- Popsicle sticks
Step 2: Using a pencil, trace your chipmunk’s face onto the felt, if you need. Feel free to freehand, also!
Step 3: Cut all the pieces using the template for help or freehand.
Step 4: Glue all pieces.
Step 5: Glue the popsicle stick to the back of the chipmunk.
