Paula’s Choice Skincare Review – Achieve Your Skin Greatness!

When I was a teenager, I was blessed with even, clear skin, and I knew it was too good to be true. When I had my son, my skin started acting differently – hyperpigmentation, sensitivity to certain foods – acne prone, and redness. After a skin consultation with Paula’s Choice, they matched me up with products perfect for me and my skin. Let’s take a look at how I am on the track to achieving skin greatness and how you can too!!

As I mentioned, my skin is sensitive, reacts to coffee and basically anything caffeinated (except for tea), suffers from a little hyperpigmentation from a previous reaction, acne prone, redness, and I also have oily t-zones, but dry skin otherwise, especially in the Wintertime. In the Summertime, however, my skin actually gets oily.

So, what did my skin consultation suggest for me, you ask? Let’s take a look!

  • Calm Redness Relief Cleanser for Normal to Dry Skin ($17.00) – When starting a new cleanser, I usually worry because I’m always afraid of trying out new skincare and ingredients, since my skin is finicky and can react to anything. This cleanser is milky in texture and lathers nicely and gently. There is no scent and my skin even seemed brighter to me than usual, which is absolutely a plus! Bonus: Also removes makeup!!

  • Calm Redness Relief Toner for Normal to Dry Skin ($20.00) – I’ve been attempting to start a toner routine, and this made it easier as I have fallen directly into the pattern of applying this after patting my skin dry after cleansing. The toner does not sting or burn the skin, which made me so joyful! I’m not really into toners that give my skin a bite. This toner also has no scent and applies smoothly and dries quickly!

  • Calm Redness Relief 1% BHA Lotion Exfoliant ($26.00) – The moisturizer I have been following up my toner with is the Calm Redness Relief 1% BHA Lotion Exfoliant. I must say that this has been such an important skincare item in my routine. My skin usually feels itchy and dry after cleansing, and this happens to patch it right up by moisturizing it and calming my itchy skin down. I have been truly obsessed with this.

It contains salicylic acid (BHA) to exfoliate and reduce rough, bumpy skin while reducing redness due to its anti-inflammatory action. It also has has a lightweight lotion texture that works to soothe redness while unclogging pores and diminishing their size.

  • Skin Recovery Replenishing Moisturizer ($28.00) – This moisturizer is a bit thicker than the Lotion Exfoliant, and it has also been really amazing for the times my skin needs more moisture. It has also appeared to brighten my face a little bit, which was recognized by my husband who asked what I had put on my face to make it brighter and matte. Yep, that shows how great these products are! Make sure to follow with a SPF 25 or greater if using in the daytime like me or use in your last step of skincare before bedtime.

  • Resist 1% Retinol Booster ($50.00) – I’ve been meaning to add this to my skincare routine, so imagine my delight when it was added by my skincare consultant. Retinol is fantastic for anti-aging, skin-firming, and smoothing and also helps reduce sun damage, acne damage, etc. This is great for those prone to acne breakouts, as well. This can be easily added to your moisturizer and serum to help with perfecting your skin.

The pump allows you to measure out by the drop, just press lightly on the top until one drop dispenses. Here is how to tailor your moisturizer or serum to your desired strength.

One Drop: A mild anytime anti-aging boost (AM and/or PM).
Two Drops: The perfect moderate-strength PM treatment.
Three Drops: Prescription-strength power for extra stubborn concerns.

  • Calm Redness Relief SPF 30 Mineral Moisturizer for Normal to Dry Skin ($28.00) – Finding a sunscreen that is fragrance-free, silky smooth, and also reduces redness and has an anti-inflammatory mix of soothing plant extracts, antioxidants, and cell-communicating peptides is a dream. This sunscreen is definitely my new favorite because I cannot stand a sunscreen scent and a thick sticky cream. This moisturizer leaves you with a semi-matte finish and a layer of protection.
