Urban Decay Naked Smoky Eyeshadow Palette Swatches and Review

When it comes to eyeshadow palettes, I usually don’t go too crazy, but this one stole my heart at first sight. I love a good smoky eye, and when I saw this palette, I thought, “THIS is perfect! You can get a warm smoky eye AND a cool smoky eye all in ONE palette!” How cool is that?! Urban Decay makes a great eyeshadow palette, so I splurged for this one and bought it right away when it released!

The packaging is gorgeous with a smoke overlay on the box. The palette itself looks similar to the box, and is glossier and PurchasedbyMeStickerstunning!

The case and brush feature a cool floating smoke effect, with “Naked Smoky” in gunmetal foil. To add to the mysterious vibe, we set the shadow pans in a smoky transparent base. The magnetic closure on the case prevents shadow mishaps in your bag, and the full-size mirror makes it easy to get Naked whenever the urge strikes.

There are 12 shades in the palette, and they cater to a warm smoky eye and a cool smoky eye, and is extremely versatile.

The shades are (Descriptions as seen on urbandecay.com):
– High (champagne shimmer w/micro-glitter)
– Dirtysweet (medium bronze)
– Radar (metallic taupe w/iridescent micro-glitter)
– Armor (metallic silver-taupe w/tonal sparkle)
– Slanted (light metallic gray)
– Dagger (medium charcoal w/micro-shimmer)
– Black Market (jet-black satin)
– Smolder (deep plum-taupe)
– Password (cool taupe matte)
– Whiskey (rich brown matte)
– Combust (soft pink-taupe)
– Thirteen (light beige satin)

The Urban Decay Naked Smoky Eyeshadow Palette also comes with a double-ended brush (As described by Urban Decay, “Tapered Crease Brush on one end and a Smoky Smudger Brush on the other”). As I also own the Urban Decay Electric Palette, I already own a brush similar to this one. I absolutely adore it!

For this eye look, I decided to go the cool-toned direction since I usually always do the warm neutral smoky eye. It was outside of my comfort zone, but I dug it!

In the crease, I used Dagger. I applied Armor all over the lids, and then patted a little bit of Radar. I finished off the look with my favorite liquid eyeliner in Eyeko Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner. And, on my waterline, I applied IT Cosmetics No-Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Black. Using Black Market, I carefully went over the waterline area to add the smoky effect and to set the eyeliner. Lipstick is Red Apple Lipstick Firecracker.

Overall, I am loving this palette! I didn’t experience any fall out with the shades I used on the eye look above. As this was the only look I created thus far, I am looking forward to using it more and will, as always, link the looks. This palette is indeed versatile, and the full mirror really wins me over, as this is something travel-friendly and also secure enough to not fall apart. If you are looking for eyeshadows to create a smoky eye, look no further, as this has warm and cool-tones for every skintone!
