April Julep Maven Modern Beauty Box 2014 Photos/Swatches/Review

This Spring, I am all about peaches, lavenders, and mints! So, when I saw the new offering by Julep, I jumped on it.

I decided to go for the April Julep Maven Modern Beauty Box because there was a blush AND a bronzer in it. We all know by now how weak in the knees I get when it comes to blushes and bronzers. Let’s take a look at what I received!

Julep Maven boxes come packaged with tissue paper and crinkled paper strips. I love the packaging because it makes me feel like I’m getting a surprise every time, even though I have an inkling of what I’m getting!

They also always include a sweet treat – this time in the form of a hard candy. Super cute – usually the candy goes by the season. The packaging is sleek and chic – matte black with glossy ends, and they are good sizes – I compared them with my hands, so you could get an idea. On the left is the blush, Peach Bellini. On the right is the bronzer, Light Golden Bronze.

As you can see, they are decent sized. You’re getting a good amount of product, and as a Maven who paid $19.99 for the two – it’s kind of a steal!

Above is the blush in my hand. Below is the bronzer, which is a pretty decent size compared to the blush.

Once you open them, they have cute plastic inserts with J’s on them. I am saving this because my son’s name starts with J, and that was just too freaking cute!!

The blush is peach with golden shimmer. I wasn’t so sure how this would look, but I was pleased. It picked up well and applied just as nicely. Photos of the looks using these two will follow.

The bronzer is a light tan/sand with golden shimmer. I almost chose the darker bronzer, but this was absolutely PERFECT as a contour shade for me. Also, this is extremely powdery – I had to dust off my brush before each use to prevent fall out.

And, here is how I used the product. I contoured underneath my cheekbone only, although I should have done a “3” like I usually do. The blush was applied onto the apples of my cheekbones.

And, then here’s a better look at the contouring:

I don’t know about these minimizing pores like they suggest because I can still see my pores underneath Peach Bellini. But that bronzer is indeed my go-to contour shade from now on.

Lipstick is MAC Nocturnal Instincts.

And, here are the products swatched on my arm.

I’m especially pleased with Julep frequently putting out makeup products to fuel the cosmetic junkie in me because I have kind of overwhelmed myself with nail polish (although I do still like it, of course) but makeup products definitely take a front seat comparatively. Their nail polish looked great, too, and if you’re looking to try them out, you can always try out myReferral Link/Promo Code: MAVENINTRO for your FIRST box for a PENNY!

Purchased by me. All opinions are honest and my own.
