Okay, I know A LOT of you are drooling for Deborah Lippmann Mermaid’s Dream (which retails for $18), but a fellow blogger, Nails by Ms. Lizard, shared on her page a dupe alert! So, of course, you know me, I ran to my nearest Urban Outfitters, which is NOT SO NEAR, but I was lucky enough to swipe Urban Outfitter Sea Dust.

I got Mermaid’s Dream for Mother’s Day, and I will definitely treasure it, but I always need back-ups of these AH-MAZING polishes.

Now, what I noticed between the beauties was that Sea Dust is a tad darker in the shade, but they look exactly the same. Mermaid’s Dream is opaque in ONE coat, while Sea Dust is not – it took 3 coats for it to match Mermaid’s Dream’s one coat. Mermaid’s Dream is extremely gritty to the touch, but this can be fixed with a great top coat. Sea Dust is slightly gritty to the touch but much, much smoother than Mermaid’s Dream, so if grittiness bothers you, grab Sea Dust. Last but not least, Mermaid’s Dream is $18 while Sea Dust is $5 (or buy 2 polishes and they will be 2 for $8!!)
