Revlon Gold Coin + Julep Oscar (Accent Nail)

Once upon a trip to Walmart, I stopped at the cosmetics section to snoop out their latest. This was awhile back (early 2011), and I had no gold in my nail collection. When I saw Revlon Gold Coin, I knew I had to have it because 1) it was the only gold and 2) it wasn’t gaudy gold. This manicure consists of Revlon Gold Coin with an accent nail of Julep Oscar. Long ago, when I was in Junior High, I had a huge collection and one of those was a gold glitter almost similar to Oscar (3rd finger on the top), so I was thrilled to see it.

Revlon Gold Coin looks just as it sounds – shiny like a gold coin! It’s a metallic foil. This polish was smooth – went on beautifully. The first coat was lovely and sheer and would look lovely layered on just about anything if you wanted. I wanted gold nails, so I kept on painting. I did 3 coats, but you could surely stop at 2 coats (it becomes bottle color by 2 coats). The brush strokes are invisible which is a MUST for metallic foils otherwise it looks strange to me. I guess it’s thanks to the awesome full-coverage brush it has. You can swipe once and cover the entire nail. That’s my kind of brush! On my ring finger, I painted on Oscar, which was in the February Julep box for “It Girl”. Of course, it could be layered on just about anything, but since I layered it on top of gold itself, it just added some dimension. I definitely recommend this subtle gold and gold glitter! 🙂

My current favorite/want/need: This is beauty un-related! My current favorite is The Voice. I just love that show, and I rate it higher than American Idol ever was. That is because they believe in Blind Auditions which means they solely pick a person on talent. Yep, they have their backs turned and if they like a person’s talent, they press a big ol’ red button and their chair turns around. I don’t know why that reminds me of Dr. Evil from Austin Powers, but it does. Anyways, the judges are Adam Levine (from Maroon 5), Cee-Lo, Christina Aguilera, and Blake Shelton – all pretty regarded people in the music world, so they know what they are talking about! Anyways, it’s pretty fun to guess who will turn around for each person. This is the 2nd season, so I’m definitely looking forward to what’s to come! This is one show we always DVR but end up watching when it’s being recorded. We’re just that impatient for that show.
