Since I only eat chicken (and I’m pretty picky about it, too – it must be boneless, completely cooked, and well-marinated or even defried), I like burgers (although I’ve never had the REAL kind) and I quite enjoy tofu.
Okay, from what angle does that even LOOK like tofu, huh? It’s awesome. I’m proud of my concoction, and I’m more than happy to share with all my fellow-veggies/non-veggies. 🙂
1 lb Tofu Frozen than Thawed (Texture is best that way!)
1 tbsp of Ground Coriander
1 tsp of Paprika
1 – 2 tbsp of Soy Sauce
1 tsp of Fenugreek
1 tsp of Garam Masala
1 tbsp of Italian Seasoning
1 packet of Instant Oatmeal
1/2 cup of Whole Wheat Flour.
Drain tofu. Mash the tofu with a spoon or your hands (Why waste the tools you were given?) and then mix spices. You may be surprised that I combined Indian and Italian spices, but I promise that it was terrific – and it gave it quite the taste! 🙂 Some of the water in the tofu is absolutely fine because it will help with the binding. Also, add the oatmeal, combine, and then further add the whole wheat flour. Once combined well, form into 2-inch-diameter patties. These are less likely to fall apart. Mold well with your hands, firmly packing it together gently.
Once finished creating the patties, you will need to put some oil into the pan. Let heat, and then add as many patties as you can handle onto the pan. After about 2 – 3 minutes, flip. Allow it to brown on each side as to cook all the way through. Enjoy in a whole wheat bun with all the burger goodies or make a wrap – like I did. You can also bake in the oven or BBQ! Enjoy!! 🙂
