This Black Friday (The day after Thanksgiving where you can buy stuff for AWESOME prices, such as a laptop for $197), I began to think about the HUGE sensation of Tickle-Me-Elmo, which came around the time I was in 6th grade in 1996. My Mom tried to find us one only because it was the BIGGEST fad, but of course, there were none to be found. I don’t understand WHY it became the most-selling toy, but the craziest thing I heard was one of them being sold for $1500+, can you believe it? I was more than amazed, and I also realized that one day the person that paid such a hefty fee would kick himself/herself for it because ta-da! Guess what? No one cares about Tickle-Me-Elmo anymore! Either way, it was definitely a memory I relived this Black Friday when I woke up in the middle of the night and bought a 32″ TV for a BEAUTIFUL price but finding out the next afternoon that there was a bug in the online checkout and that it had let me purchase it when they really had none. No need to fret, we scored another TV. 🙂 And, this reminded me of Tickle-Me-Elmo. I still remember my heart stopping whenever I saw anything with red “fur” in the toy section only to find it being something else! It was really a crazy time! I’m so glad we never found one because all in all, it was a fad that didn’t last just like any other fad, and it was a waste of money for something so annoying – an ever-laughing Elmo doll. Really? I mean, really!?
